中国古代纺织曾雄踞世界之首达两千年之久，从植桑、养蚕、缫丝到提花机、多锭纺车的发明，从植物、矿物染料的应用到染色整理技术的创新，在纺、织、染各个领域，成就显著，发明成果累累，为促进中国古代社会经济发展与世界纺织技术的进步作出了巨大的贡献。

古代馆陈列的图片与实物是我国纺织服饰历史的一个缩影。

Textile and costume play vital parts in the history of human civilization. As China is a nation with a long history of ancient civilization, her rich and long-standing costume heritage records from its unique perspective the progress of national politics, culture and artistic history.

Ancient China’s textile technology had led the world for more than two thousand years. In these two millenniums, many technical inventions and achievements came into being, contributing a great deal to ancient Chinese socioeconomic development and the world’s textile technology progress, from mulberry planting, silkworm breeding, filature to draw loom; from plant and mineral pigment application to dyeing and finishing innovation.

With its photographs and real collections in exhibition, the Ancient China Section intends to epitomize ancient Chinese textile and costume history.
